Today, we were off lead and met 9 other dog walkers and the insane whirling dervish of Labrador managed to great each human with ALL FOUR feet on the floor.

Please tell me this means I might finally be heading toward having a well mannered and civilised dog.

Pleeeease?

Constant perseverance, and friendly tolerant dog walkers who don't mind a bit of mud.

She's by no means perfect but today, it looks like she's FINALLY starting to get it.

Plus lots of treats on the floor to reward her staying down and putting her into a sit or a down when we meet people on the lead.

It's still a long way to go but I can see light at the end of tunnel now Smile

I'm far from seeing the light! Have started at home with clicking when people come in, but once the intial greet is over, she's been clicked and treated, she goes and seeks them out to say hello! Its like I just interrupt her for a while and then she gets back to the job in hand:)

I will have to start doing more out on walks, at the moment I put her on a lead if I see someone coming, its ok if they've got a dog as she is usually saying hello to them, but she really leaps up and I have to apologise for her not-yet-learnt -manners! Most are tolerant as they can see she is young, but not everyone likes it very much. Understandably!

I am having the same problem. The worst bit is he doesn't do it at home at all, just when out and about. It is driving me round the bend.

At home, my main issue is being conned by the dog. She goes particularly crazy over one victim friend, she has been known to spin me in a circle to get to her.

At home, she has been getting better...but...

We have noticed that if I am out the room/house than she is ten times better than if I am in there too. So I've stopped rewarding her good behaviour at all, and totally ignore her unless she gets massively in my friends face. Then I send her to bed to chill.

Annoyingly,this seems to working Hmm

Ohh my mannerless dog doesn't limit it too humans...surely everything needs to be greeted with paws on them Hmm

To be fair he is getting better with other dogs as he gets lots of play but he gravitates to the nutty spaniels who will box him. Someone told me BT's were shocking jumper uppers but he is something else. It doesn't help that our park is full of dog lovers dishing out treats to my delinquent when he jumps up. He is permenantly filthy too Blush

Oh the givers of treats Angry undoes all my work. Although I find pleading with them not to whilst looking mildly hysterical helps.

One fellow dog walker now treats her when she's bear him behaving nicely. That helps. If she sits in front of him in rewards her with fuss instead Smile

There are about 10 people and 15 dogs and a whole heap of treats. He does behave for one of them, she is awesome so now he races in at high speed and sits obediently. Everyone else he just bounces around with filthy paws Sad
