Does anyone do agility with their dogs?

I've just started with my two ( a saluki lurcher and a GSDX). We are never going to compete but I'm really enjoying it and bizarrely enough, it's my 4 year old lurcher who has taken to it, not my youngster.
So before I rattle on about it too much, does anyone else do this with their dogs?

Oh yes the mobile mop loves agility. He is a pretty good steeplechase dog when his handler gets it right.

yeah i do it with my very naughty dog. i wont be competing with him as he would be classed as a large dog but he cant jump that high. he likes ignoring me though

I started out saying we'd never compete, it was just for a bit of fun - now it's become an obsession and we compete at least once a month. I run a four year old Siberian husky, we've been training for just over two years.

I've done it with my Border Terrier who sat down one day in a run of jumps and refused to move any further! Also currently doing it with my labradoodle pup who loves it and is "very talented" can't say the same for the owner according to the trainer

I'd love too as Berthadog has springs in her feet and would probably love it. Can't find one near me though that isn't at silly times or over-subscribed. How do you find the agility for fun type groups?

I found our class through fellow dog walkers. It's about a 30 min drive away at 12noon on a weekday. The lady who trains us is quite strict and trains us 'properly' so some of the class are keen to compete, but more than a few just do it for fun.
If you said where you are, maybe someone could point you in the direction of a class. Our class is in Hertfordshire.

Try posting on the Facebook Agilitynet page to find a group close to you. Even if just training for fun I'd advise choosing an instructer who is suitably experienced and qualified - not only from a safety perspective but because if you do ever choose to compete you need the correct foundations to work from.

We started off in a 'for fun' club and when we decided to pursue it for competition spent most of the first year undoing the bad habits and mistakes we'd learnt. It's a great deal more about your handling, body language and positioning than just teaching the dog to jump over things.

Little dog and I are starting a beginners course in the New Year. It is an initial 3 weekend trial and then if we get through that a 12 week training course. They only run them every 2 years. I am beyond excited.
The little guy enjoyed the fun agility at training class and fingers crossed it will be just what he needs. He is very active and likes to be "busy".
