Reassure me about kennels, please?

The spaniel has been kennelled several times, and it is the best place for him as he has some fear aggression issues. He has his own safe space at the kennel, is walked on his own and also exercised in a secure paddock twice a day. The kennel owners breed GS and working cockers, so put him through his paces and are well used to nervy prima donnas We have to attend a wedding next month abroad, so have to kennel the dogs for three days. This will be the first time that I've ever kennelled the pup. He will be 9 months old, weighs under 6kg soaking wet and is very much spoiled My plan is to kennel them separately, but opposite each other so that they can see. They will be walked together and exercised together, and sleep together at night. The kennels are heated, very well run, clean and I trust them completely. But oh God I am dreading leaving the pup. I worry he'll be cold , or distressed at being left. I'm being a total pilchard, aren't I?

hello i use a dog sitter at home as my two are so nervous plus me and dh are overprotective. If you are really worried maybe use a dog sitter they cost about 450 for a week and mine cleaned the house and was very good with the pooches. having said that if the kennels is good maybe pupster will have fun.

Im no help as we only go away without the dog if my sister or my DS are prepared to dog sit . Its stressful enough leaving him at home without putting him in kennels . Do you really need to go to the wedding ?

Yep. Close family member. DH is forrin. I always knew that I'd have to use a kennel or sitter, and we used to send the spaniel to a home boarding place. It was excellent, but now that he has some ishoos I don't want to send him as it's not fair on him or the other dogs. We've been using the kennels for over a year, and he's quite settled there and I trust them completely. I'm just fretting over the teeny pupster who is currently asleep wrapped up in my cardigan

He'll be fine! And you'll enjoy him all the more afterwards, knowing that you've familiarised him with a good kennels so that he can stay there happily when needed.

I used the kennels for my 6 month old German Shepherd, she went in a fussy eater and with issues around strangers so I cried like a baby leaving her for 15 nights . She actually came out a better dog, ate her dinner, played fetch better and really took to the staff (not males tho).

I'm now leaving 2 German Shepherds next year and totally dreading it as the one I put in as a pup still has issues with strangers so I'm hoping when she goes back in she remembers the staff.

He'll be fine! Can you take him for a trial afternoon, so it's not an unfamiliar place when you leave him?

Another one here with a nervous dog. We did a couple of overnight stays initially, so alandog knew we were always coming back. Helped her a lot.
