Rash - caused by stress?

Going to the vets on Monday but just wondering if anyone has any experience of this.

Dog has been somewhat unsettled by recent fireworks and in the past week or two has taken to scratching himself more than usual (which I know can be a sign of stress). He now has patches of red scratches with some sore spotty areas. Some of these are in places he cannot reach so aren't caused by the excessive scratching.

How likely is it that these rashes are a manifestation of his anxiety rather than a skin condition for eg?

He's a 1yo border collie.

Also forgot to mention that he is losing hair in some of these patches.

Spots almost always indicate infection. That has to be dealt with first to know whether it was the cause or something else.
