What's the most common cause of vomiting in dogs?

My little pup was vomiting today. Twice in his basket. No diarrhoea. I have been feeding his normal food. He was playful and energetic as usual but then after a walk and a sleep he woke up vomiting. He is the type of dog not to put strange things in his mouth. Now after some boiled chicken and rice he is back to normal.

It could be anything. Mine usually does it when she ate something she shouldn't. Take her to the vet tomorrow if she is still sick. Hope it's nothing.

Most common cause of vomiting in dogs is dietary indiscretion that is eating something they shouldn't have.
If she vomits more than twice more today or becomes depressed or lethargic she should be seen by a vet today.

With a puppy I wouldn't take a risk. If he's still doing it tomorrow get him checked at the vet.
With older dogs it can be nothing more serious than going too long with an empty stomach, bile attack, which often leads them to eat grass which makes them sick. It's usually a clear, yellow slime or white froth often with bits of grass in.

Give him a scrambled egg. He'll either keep it down or it'll bring up what's causing the problem.
