Dog being speyed... How long before I can leave her alone?

Dog is booked in to be speyed next Thursday. I picked next week as it's half term and I'm booked off work, however, when I booked the holiday, I was working Thursday to Saturday, and they have now changed my shift pattern to include Sundays which means I'll have to go back on Sunday 3rd, 3 days after her op, as oppose to the following Thursday which is how it used to be. There is no holiday availability left, so I'll have to go in, but I'm worried about leaving her for any length of time in case she rips her stitches or something (she gets very excited when the door goes etc and I'm concerned she'll hurt herself hurtling at the door. Open plan house so nowhere to contain her).

It's a long time since I've had a dog speyed and I can't remember the recovery time etc.

Also, with regards to walking - I have no garden so will have to take her out for a wee. There's grass about 20 yards away so will she be okay to walk that far on the evening after the op? These worries are the reason I've put off having her done for so long already!

My dog was spayed last week and I was told by vet she would be fine 24 hours later. I was provided with a cone for her as well in case she was licking her wound.

She didn't have any external stitches, they did it all internally, no idea how they managed that magic.

She didn't want to go out for a wee until the next day, and was advised to do leash walks for a week.

I thought she would be all sore and moody for a week or so but we actually struggled to stop her bounding around the next day.

Sorry, so in answer to your question, she should be fine on the Sunday and cone her if she is likely to lick herself.

Ah that's comforting :) I'm panicking about it all, as my house is open plan; living room and kitchen upstairs (22 of them!!) and there's literally nowhere I can confine her, so I'm worrying about her managing the stairs, running around too much etc.

My dog was fine after 24 hours. Probably best not to let her run up and down stairs much in the first few days but she should be ok by the time you go,to work.

ours was spayed last week, she wasn't up to doing anything the evening after we picked her up, just about managed to get her to go out for a wee (by carrying her to the garden and carrying her back into the house ). she did do a poo on the carpet for the first time since she was about 10 weeks old (is just under a year old now) other than that she just curled up on her soft bed in the living room.
I had to leave her the next day to do the school run (max 30 minutes) she is crate trained but I left her crate door open and put some puppy pads down incase she couldn't wait. I also unplugged the doorbell and phone and left the radio on quietly.
she was fine within about two days and luckily she hasn't bothered with her stitches.
I did feel quite guilty whilst she was at the vets and for a few days later which I wasn't expecting but all is well now. hope it all goes well.

Our pup was spayed two weeks ago. She obviously didn't listen to the vet because she threw herself around the house like she was on speed from the moment she got home and didn't stop. I was petrified that she was going to herself a mischief. Instead of a cone I used a baby vest with poppers which she preferred for the first couple of days. The stitches irritated her for the first two days but she hasn't been bothered by them since then.

I've just arranged to borrow a huge crate off a friend for a couple of days as at least this will solve the problem of her running up and downstairs!
