Didn't know whether to laugh or cry

Has anyone ever had the shock of their lives when picking up a pooch from the groomers?!
I have 3 TTs, and the youngest is now starting to blow her 2nd coat. Her coat is(was)beautiful but she had a few little matts from playing with her elders and rolling in mud. Its nothing I haven't seen before.
Anyway, although I brush and maintain all 3 woofers coats, my kids do go to the groomer,as a rule, every month,unless they have been clipped previously.
Today I took the youngest for her app and asked for some length to be removed from her coat, 2 inches was what I asked for..
Just picked her up and she looks like a skinned rabbit! My initial reaction was to burst out laughing.
Groomer says she 'got carried away' and 'kept snipping'.
Luckily, their coats grow super fast and I don't show so alls ok.
Anyone else been there,done that?!

This happened with our Old English Sheepdog when I was a teenager. He came back looking like a demented greyhound - my sister screamed in terror and bolted upstairs

Yep, I have Tibetan Terrorists... My ds has just appeared from uni and laughed his bits off at her.. Good lord,cannot imagine an Old English that has been scalped..

I live in fear of this. My cockapoo puppy has a poodle coat, and hasn't yet blown his puppy coat. I will almost certainly have to take him to the groomers to brush him out when it does. If he comes back with a poodle cut I will be hysterical

As a fellow TT sufferer a TT coat can never be too short! I had German Spitzes before the TT and thought I was prepared for the grooming but I have never seen such a nightmare in my life! Mine is short and staying short for my sanity.

I feel your pain. The 2 elders are sporting short cuts for the same reason. Its never ending with a TTs coat. At least they don't moult...

good humour is the way to go! Poor thing will have chilly bits in this weather.

Not TTs but I couldn't do our Cocker when I was confined to hospital with dc4 - DHs face when he came to see me, he almost couldn't tell me.
I handstrip, the groomer said they would - nuh uh - her top knot and face were untouched but from the back of her head to her arse had been shaved with what must have been a #15 stopping short in a line under her ribs. Her skirt and ears were different lengths on each side, her feathers had been scalped but feet left hugely fluffy and they had shaved out her underneath but left this weird 3in square tuft of chest hair on it's own.
I have never seen anything like it before or since! It took two years to get her coat back to normal.
The worst bit though was they shaved her bum so short all you could see when she walked away was pink bum and wibbly big vulva - no dignity for the poor lass.

Ahh, my groomer knows the mantra.. Bold arse(hate having to stretch the latex gloves,grab scissors,carrier and soapy water) long faces. I don't know what happened today. There were no blades involved, but the poor baby may need to sleep in my cardi for the foreseeable.. Just glad the happy snipping happened on the dog and not my head.. If I'd asked the hairdresser to take 2 inchs of my head and she scalped me like that, Sky News would be reporting my crime. Live. My name would be scrolling across your screen...

I had my Lhasa Apso groomed today by a different one than before. She is related to the TT but smaller and quieter. She has been trimmed differently by both. But neither sheared her like a sheep, perhaps because her coat is difficult as all downy fluff and very thick.
I met a TT on dog walks, but he had a curly coat. I asked if he was a cross with a poodle, but was told no, pure bred TT Owner said he was due for the trim.

Shaved bums are a must! But I keep a good supply of latex gloves anyway, with my luck something gets stuck somewhere - yuk!

All 3 of mine have different coats. 1 is wirey and curly, her sister is is straight and fluffy and the babies WAS in bet in between! Think she has developed a complex as everyone who's walked in has laughed in her poor, hairless face. Moral of this is : learn to fully groom my own dogs x
