Home insurance and dog flap

Just called my insurance provider about the implication of fitting a dog flap. They said that if things are stolen and there are no signs of forced entry or they got in via the flap then the policy will not cover this. Anyone got this clause in their policy or got a policy that covers dog flaps. They said if it's a cat flap then you're covered but not a dog one even if it's a small one.

I'm talking about 10 years ago, but phone around, we found an insurer who would insure (with no such clause) got a feeling it might have been Prudential. The other option some insurers mentioned is to have your inside door (e.g. your kitchen door) secured to external door standards (i.e. chubb lock etc) then only the stuff in the kitchen would not be covered in the event of a break-in.
