Travel sickness medication

Due to an emergency, I have to undertake a 5 hour car journey with a family members' dog tomorrow. He's known to be travel sick and obviously I would like to minimise the chances!

One of my dogs used to be travel sick and I can remember we bought something from the chemist on the advice of our vet, rather than a vet prescribed medication.

Does anyone know anything that can be used and the dose? I'm not sure I can wait for an emergency vet appointment tomorrow (though if I need to, I'll have to!)

My vet recommended my boxer eat ginger biscuits before a car journey as she suffered terribly. Worked well for us and I was happy not to have to medicate her.

Aha, hadn't even considered ginger! Fantastic idea (and dog will probably be grateful for one last treat as he's going on a serious diet when he gets back to me)

Thanks.
