Last week puppy appeared scared of his food bowl. He barked for food, when we poured it into bowl, he stared at it and starting barking. We changed bowl as he wasn't going near it. That did the trick.
This morning, he barked for food, watched us pour and then just walked away. Very unusual as he usually hovers in 1-2 mins. We thought it was the bowl so poured some on the floor and he hoovered it up, still not going near bowl. My DH put some on his hand and then dropped it in bowl once puppy near him, again it did the trick but took a few attempts to get him to finish.
We thought he may be poorly but as soon as we offered bonio he gulped it down as well as the carrot ends.
Tea time he did the same thing, we think he is off the royal canin so we we given a free pack of eukanuba at vets so mixed a tiny amount in with royal canin and he ate it all up.
My mum thinks we should go to the vet in the morning, DH thinks we should drop to 2 meals and mix in eukanuba.
Does anyone have any advice? he doesn't appear poorly, playing, toileting normal.
The only thing we can think of that may have stressed him is the weather. He isn't allowed freely in the garden as he was over the summer as he gets very wet and it takes a lifetime to dry him, very furry doggy.
Please help as I don't want to appear an anxious owner with the vet. He is due his wormer on Wednesday but no sign of anything nasty in poop.
Off to do kids bedtime so apologies if I don't reply for a little while.
Tia

Is it a stainless steel bowl? Our puppy did this too. We changed it for ceramic and fine. I've left it a week and put down the stainless steel bowl with treats in. She just sat barking at it!

Does the bowl maybe make a noise if it scrapes on the floor?

givemeadvice · 15/09/2013 19:45

Hi, the first bowl was stainless steel. The second is green plastic.
Yes, if bowl scrapes the floor it does make a sound.
When I put treats in the stainless bowl he ate them but didnt rush for them.
What shall I do tomorrow morning, put it down as usual and if he doesn't eat then mix in eukanuba?
Thanks

Try a mat on the floor to stop the bowls scraping?

I think the issue with ours is her collar tag banging against the side of the bowl, may try her again without her collar
