Neutered dog trying to hump?

My partners dog was neutered when he was around 5 or 6 months old, not exactly sure when but he's got the papers as proof and has been immunised and given the full works.

However, he has taken recently (3 years next week) to trying to hump people, only females. He doesn't completely but does the mounting position, thrusts his chest forward and swings his hips backwards and forwards behind the person in question if they are leaning down to do anything.

My question is do neutered dogs normally do this? I thought their 'urges' stopped once they got doctored, but I could be wrong.

Humping isn't exclusively sexual. Many dogs will hump when they are excited or in play.

My neutered male (2) tries to hump my male puppy. He was also neutered at 6 months. He does it when he gets too excited. The pup just wanders off from under him, leaving the spaniel groin thrusting across the rug like an extra in 'Saturday Night Fever'. He generally tries to hump the pup's head, so he's completely clueless. We generally ignore it unless we have visitors.

Actually my fourteen year old male dog (who was reportedly neutered at 6 months) will vigorously hump his best pal's head while I dish up their dinner. Every. Single. Day.

Ah that's OK then. It's pretty comical as long as it isn't a guest in the house, which hasn't happened yet luckily.

I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some kind of mistake with his neutering, if that's even possible.

I used to have a neutered bitch that used to hump my leg, and our neutered dog would then join on behind her!

My little girl was spayed 6 weeks ago, and today resumed her humping her teddy toydog when she was excited. Usually is the head too.

Had 2 unspayed females before and they did it only when in season but at the right end
