Do any of the plaque off type things work?

I've tried the toothpaste that you massage into the gums, and the spaniel hates it. There is no way he'll allow me to brush his teeth (he's fine with having his lips raised etc, he just legs it as soon as you try to put anything more than food into his face). I'm looking at the water/food additive things which claim to help clean, stop the build up of tartar and help with the honking breath. Are they a complete waste of money?

Plaque off which you sprinkle on their food is really good but I had to stop using it as our dog gets dry food in a giant kong, so can't really use it now. I'm currently using tropic lean fresh breath gel. You just dab a couple of blobs on the gum and it reacts with saliva, seems to work.

I personally won't use xylitol based products like the water additives.

Plaque off is very effective if used consistently and if fed on dry food only I wet a few kibbles so it sticks - they all get hoovered up! Lasts ages (even using it for the Dane).
It's not suitable for hyperthyroid pets due to the iodine but that's for cats mainly as dogs are usually hypo - but just in case.
My 11 yo has beautiful teeth!
