and your bloody lucky to have any fingers left, we've worked really hard on our little cockers fear issues (both with dogs and people), he was fearful of dogs having been attacked when little, several times, lots of hard work with well socialised and well mannered dogs and has improved to such an extent that owners at our ring craft group seek him out to educate their pups in the art of play and manners (with my permission).
Anyway at a fund raising dog show yesterday a tw*t with a little pug said, oh look this cocker will play with you and merrily sent his offlead dog over to him, not asking if it was ok/my dog was ok with other dogs etc. The owner then came over, loomed over my dog who at this point had started to growl and bark at him, I said please don't touch him he's nervous of people and tried to back away, he obviously knew my dog better than me and said he only wants to play and immediately started to ruffle the top of his head and "playfully" tap around his mouth with his hand. Now, we know that my dog is nervous of people touching him but again with lots of hard and careful work with him we were slowly overcoming his problem, I always watch his body language and remove him if he's showing the slightest signs of unhappiness. I immediately took my dog away from this situation but I'm afraid that this stupid man has set my dog back now as he's barking and growling at anybody who dares to walk past the house or the slightest noise. So it looks like I have to go back to the beginning with him and he's undone all our hard work. he had come on so well that we were just starting to show him as he'd allow a judge to go over him now.
