Pointy hounds include-
Greyhounds (Grunds)
Whippets (Whippys)
Lurchers
Italian Greyhounds (Iggys)
Salukis
Afghans
And any others I have forgotten. If you are a new pointy hound owner, an old and experienced owner or looking into getting one of these fabulous creatures, come and have a seat (that's not taken up with a hound ).

Come The Day
Come the day I take that final bend,
Can I count on you to be my friend?
To see I?m treated just and fair,
It means so much to know you care.

For, what the future holds in store,
Now that I can race no more,
Should be addressed for every hound,
Who parts the punter from his pound.

Tell them I don?t ask for much,
A kindly word, a gentle touch,
Somewhere warm to lay my head,
A meal each day to keep me fed,
Not just life- but quality,
This is how it ought to be.

Do not see me swept away,
I long to live another day,
With peace of mind, tranquillity,
And those who care surrounding me,
So tell them all- you have that choice,
I beg of you to be my voice.

Peanut... just checking that you've seen ginny in terms of small lurchers as opposed to whippets...

PeanutPatty · 04/10/2013 19:09

Thanks Mistle! She's a sweetie and our dog loves playing chase and is a bit of a tomboy when it comes to play so they might have been an ideal pairing. We have an elderly cat so Ginny wouldn't work for us.

There is a gorgeous pic of a whip or grey on the eGLR calendar entries. One of those from the nose angles. Fallen completely in love.

mistlethrush · 04/10/2013 19:12

I managed to get a picture of mistlehound onto the LL calendar.. not quite sure how given the quality of the photos that were entered.

Very chuffed though

Scuttlebutter · 04/10/2013 20:46

Your Hand - we most certainly do! here

Keep an eye on our FB page too.

mistlethrush · 04/10/2013 21:33

Scuttle - I'm really after a fleece with a T piece and strap fixing - I don't suppose you have any patterns for that type that you sometimes get made up?

cinnamongreyhound · 04/10/2013 22:19

You have some gorgeous fleeces scuttlebutter! Been looking at your fb page :). Love the purple with hearts, the orange flowers and the brightly coloured circles. There's a photo with a cat and it looks just like my tabby!

Moosemama you're a fab puppy parent, can't always get it right he'll forgive you :)

I'm in a race Sunday and it's along a train track, dh is going to catch the train a bit after I've started so my boys can catch me up and over take but dh won't take the dogs as he's worried about coping with both of them and the boys on the little steam train :(

My meeting in Tuesday has been rescheduled after me sorting it and now it's even more difficult. I replied to the email suggesting the best I can manage and have had no response, so Angry

mistlethrush · 04/10/2013 22:22

Tell DH I said 'woos' Do you not manage the two dogs plus children (varied) every day?

cinnamongreyhound · 04/10/2013 22:30

I haven't been out with both dogs and both my children without him so far but I've been out with peanut and 6 children. He deals with lots of stressful things at work but at home he wants everything as stress free and calm as possible. Shame I can't run with a dog, because then he'd just have peanut who's a dream on the lead. One of his biggest worries is peanut weeing on the train Hmm

Scuttlebutter · 04/10/2013 22:32

Hi Mistle, no unfortunately we don't. I know there are some other companies who do make those though.

PeanutPatty · 04/10/2013 23:45

My DH is the same. Look on his face if I suggest he takes the children AND the dog together is priceless. It causes me to have moments of annoyance and moments of strong words.

Do male dogs mark much or does it depend? It wouldn't even occur to me that Peanut would pee on the train.

mistlethrush · 05/10/2013 09:28

Scuttle - thanks, sorry about that!

I have just told DH that he needs to go out a bit more (he's not been going out to karate on some evenings) and the dog is now showing SA traits on the odd times that he does go out. Strange given he ignores her most of the time and she's so pleased to see us when we get in - I think its just the fact that he's there....

cinnamongreyhound · 05/10/2013 13:38

He's the first male dog I've had and he wee's on most things outside. We took him to pets at home and he wee'd in there so he's paranoid now. He's still not perfectly house trained but our house was the first house he's lived in. Lola is perfect with housetraining but quite pully on the lead and very bouncy when there's people around.

TooOldForGlitter · 05/10/2013 19:27

Sooooo we met Bob today at the fosterers house. He was a beaut, his picture didnt do him justice he was a beautiful big black boy. I fell in love. Absolutely gentle placid dog. A big leaner and a wet nosed prod if i stopped stroking him. Took him for a walk and he was a dream on lead. Had his body pressed against my legs as we walked and when we got back he wouldnt move again until his lead and harness were off Grin

Predictably DP said he was too big but did spend ages fussing and stroking him. We got back and ive said nothing just let it sink in for him and the result is he's said, if you want him we'll get him.Grin

MagratGarlik · 05/10/2013 19:39

Yay! Another black hound finds a good home. When are you collecting him?

Scuttlebutter · 05/10/2013 19:44

Yay!!!!! Great news. Congratulations, Too Old, and well done to your DH too.

YourHandInMyHand · 05/10/2013 19:50

Grin Lovely news!

MagratGarlik · 05/10/2013 19:58

You do realize though that if you choose him, he will sneakily become your dh's dog, don't you? (Our dogs swapped people)

TooOldForGlitter · 05/10/2013 20:16

I havent spoken to rescue yet but i imaginr we will collect him a week today.

moosemama · 05/10/2013 20:39

Congratulations TooOld! Grin

My dh, that didn't want a puppy is currently upside down on the living room floor with a puppy on top of him. Hmm Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 05/10/2013 21:01

That's lovely news!

Agree with MagratGarlik, Peanut was dh's choice and he's definitely my dog!

mistlethrush · 05/10/2013 21:41

TooOld - great news! Our first dog (as a couple) chose us by bumping into DH when I held the lead (on a walk) and bumping into me when DH held the lead. She was the best dog ever for having a young child.

Grin (that came out as Gin the first time)

TooOldForGlitter · 05/10/2013 22:02

Spoken to rescue and we collect him saturday at two. Nervous and excited at mo'. Cant wait to get him here.

mistlethrush · 05/10/2013 22:30

At least you've got a week to get everything you might need (within reason) before you get him. We went to look at two dogs and came away with one of them that afternoon...

TooOldForGlitter · 05/10/2013 22:45

I could easily have taken him there and then but I need another few days to get his bits in and also his foster mum was hoping for a couple of extra days with him so just tied up nicely really.

TooOldForGlitter · 05/10/2013 22:50

Magrat i fully envisage this hound being his! He spent most of his time wet nosing DP for strokes and giving me the occasional pity brush by!
