Puppy sick after worming...help.

Hi all, took Otto to the vet yesterday eve and they gave him milbemax. Woke up this morning to find the kitchen covered in sick, sloppy poos and wee - he's normally perfect at lasting the night. He seems really out of sorts and a bit twitchy.

Is this likely to be a reaction to the wormer, or is there possibly something more serious afoot? First puppy so new to all this. He's a 4month old 3.5kg dachshund if that helps.

I would phone the vet and check what dosage they gave him - his breed and his age will mean he's only tiny little thing - perhaps they gave him too much?

Spoke to OOH and apparently milbemax has been tested to ten times dosage so unlikely to be due to that. Going to see how he gets on and book him in to vet if carries on. Poor little thing just looks so miserable

Sometimes you do get a reaction to a product regardless of testing as individuals vary. In puppies this reaction is often seen though when the wormer has been effective on a high worm burden so this would be my first thought. As milbemax is the only enteric coated wormer it is the least vomity of the products available - anyone remember the upchuck ability of Lopotal?
I would try again at next monthly worming with milbemax if you have the same affect switch to another product.
