Fleas - Advice please.

My 10 week old puppy has some sort of flea - or rather something that is making him scratch and chew his tail like mad. We treated him two weeks ago when we got him, with Advocate. I'm not sure if I should treat him again as its supposed to be a month between applications. What to do?!

Advice please!

There is a mite often found on puppies commonly know as creeping dandruff that Advocate does not kill. I would check with your vet.

Is it very small round and black? We found three of those on him on Sunday, but none since. He's feeling quite distracted by them. Hmm

Fleas aren't round, they're shaped almost like tiny dark brown grains of rice. Unless what you're seeing is flea dirt? That's really tiny roundish specks, but they don't move obviously!
Could be mites?

I am inclined to think that it is some sort of mite, but unless they've travelled up to the surface (Labrador), then its difficult to tell. I am going to the vets tomorrow anyway so I'll ask then.
