We have decided on a beagle, the name debate rages (but that's another thread...).

Can anyone recommend a reliable reputable breeder, preferably Hampshire or the Isle of Wight?

Have you seen this thread?

or this one

I only ask because so many end up in rescues as owners weren't prepared for the amount of work beagles are. They are not a dog for the inexperienced or fainthearted!

Hmmmmm, that is certainly concerning.

What would you suggest instead? I like the size, family friendly aspect and good with other dogs aspect of beagles.

I wanted a beagle and posted on here for honest opinions. We now have a one year old Border Terrier!

We wanted a beagle but the fact that they can't be let off lead without zooming off on a scent put me off.

We decided on a Hungarian vizsla. He is brilliant.
Great to walk, very affectionate and a real pleasure to have.
