I don't know a lot about dog breeding but a friend sent me this link as she's looking for a puppy. Something about the ad makes me uncomfortable - there seem to be a lot of pups in a small cage and the price seems very steep.
Thoughts from anyone more knowledgeable?
Thanks

Any dog advertised on Gumtree would worry me.
It's SCREAMS puppy farm

GetStuffezd · 31/08/2013 18:19

Thanks both.
As I said, I know bugger all about what to look for when buying a dog but will relay your responses. I would hate her to fork out a ton of money which ends up financing disreputable breeders.

Yes - it is not so much the pen, but advertised on Gumtree, a designer mix.......
Also does she realize how big these dogs could be?
There are plenty of mixes available from rescues without supporting puppy farmers

Big red flag on non shedding too. You can't guarantee a dog will be non shedding unless you pay a fortune for DNA testing and even that may not be accurate.
Just because a breed is crossed with a non shedding breed doesn't not mean all the pups will inherit that gene.
