Will neutering solve this behaviour?

My 9 month old pup has been booked in to be neutered next week. That is a given no matter what. He is humping everything and one of my cats is ready to claw the face off him.
However in the last week he has become bad tempered with other dogs. Nothing has happened to make him like this. He has always been a very sociable, playful little guy. Oh and the dogs he has been pushing it with are either younger than him or neutered. After an incident today with a very gentle Boxer (neutered) I phoned vet and booked appointment.
Now I have been told that the humping will not always stop after neutering. Fair enough I can just about put up with it. I am more concerned with his behaviour with other dogs. So far there has been nothing more than a bit of growling and nipping but don't want it to escalate. Will neutering calm this down? It is very recent behaviour.
Oh and while I have been on here he has jumped up on the couch and peed up me. Those cajones are history wee man!
