Another dog with our black lab

What kind of dog do you think would work well with a black lab?

I want another lab but dh is set on another kind like a spaniel. Not sure why.

I just think I know where I am with a lab and the dcs etc.

Anything on this area I should know about? Our current dog is nearly 2.

We had a Lab/Golden Retriever combo, excellent mix!

Mum has a black lab and regularly looks after a neighbours rough collie, they are fantastic together, like roughly the same amount of exercise, and are both fantastic with my younger siblings and dd, although the collie does occasionally start herding the children back to me or mum if she feels they are playing somewhere they shouldn't be

We also had a lab and a springer spaniel when I was a kid, they were good together but could get very excitable and did knock me over a lot
