Pug licking after nose surgery (boas)

My pug had her nostrils widened last Tuesday and her soft palate resectioned. Can anyone help please with advice to stop her licking her nose? It's making it sore looking and a collar will not stop her.

Also anyone else's pug/short nosed breed had this surgery?

I'll be phoning the vet of course too.

No experience directly tho I have two lively pugs. Could you research or post the question in pugvillage.com forums as tho its an American site, there are v knowlegeable pug owners, rescuers and breeders on there that should help.

Other option I can think if is distraction - fill a king with something frozen like low fat yog, peanut butter or mashed banana and it may keep her busy for a while? Also keep up with pain meds so it doesn't feel too sore for her.

I have another pug too you may remember, a black 7 month whirling dervish. It's hard keeping them apart, he's very jealous of any attention we give her, toys included. It's as bad as having kids.

Yes, I remember our black pug woes. Sounds just like my two. I suggest crating poorly pug with something yummy such as frozen Kong, antler bone etc to chew on and playing with or walking the other. That's how Ive dealt with it when one of mine has been poorly. Pug hugs x

I would call your vet who may be able to prescribe something to prevent her from licking? Something bad tasting?

Just an update to say she is much better this afternoon. Not licking as much, perkier and her bark is sounding more like a bark and not a strangled gurgle.

It's a shame however that she had to endure the operation in the first place though.
