She was called Molly, a yellow lab, only a month off her 13th birthday. We got up this morning to find her off her legs and not right at all. We took her to the emergency vets who said she was bleeding from a tumour in her spleen, they couldn't do anything for her, and she was deteriorating in front of our eyes, so she had to be put to sleep. We stayed with her until she had gone. It was just so sudden, she was fine yesterday and enjoyed her walk with me and DD. It was the best way for her to go, she didn't suffer, she was so patient with our DD a loving, loyal, happy dog, right until the end. Goodbye Moll we will always love and remember you.

So sorry kasterborous - at least you know she didn't suffer for long and you made the right decision for her however painful it was for you

Look after yourselves and let yourselves grieve

So sorry, it's heartbreaking. We love our dogs so much. You've done the right thing even though it wasn't easy. Take care.

I am so, so sorry. Happened to us a few years ago. We were on holiday in the US (so couldn't even get home quickly) and got a phone call to say our 2yo Lab had a tumour and had to be pts. So sudden. Sad Sad

I am so sorry, happened to us in May and it's awful. You will be all over the place for a while so please be kind to yourself - it's horrible. Much love x

Same here last January, it was absolutely shattering although given BlackDogs age shouldn't really have been a surprise.
Looking back I am now pleased it was so quick, I have no memories of her being sick, in pain, scared etc. I simply remember her being "her" and then being gone IYSWIM?
Big hugs to you Thanks

Thanks for the lovely messages everyone and sorry to hear about all your dogs too. It was such a shock that one day she was fine and the next she was gone. Like you said we will look back in time and be so glad she didn't suffer she just went with all of us telling her how much we love her. And that she had a really good day the day before she went. The house is just so empty without her.

So sorry to hear your news, we lost our girl in May. She was a bit slow on her walk in the morning and couldn't stand by bedtime. Such a shock and I miss her so much, had her for 8 1/2 years, through 2 moves a marriage and 2 children. She was my dog and not very playful so ds's were fine but I was devastated. Found a photo on my phone the other day that must have been just before she died and burst into tears. Dh rushed me into another dog which didn't go we'll to start with but now I have a lovely boy who I'm really enjoying but he will never replace her. Give yourself time and remember all the fun you had. Such a special place doggies have in our hearts :)
