Back to work - dog weeing in the house

Looking for some advice. I have an 8 month old cocker spaniel and have just returned to work. Previously she could be left for 4 hours without peeing in the house but this now seems to be a problem.
She is walked and out the house for over an hour during the day whilst I'm at work but the urinating is getting worse. Any ideas on how I can stop this?

Is she used to being home alone?

Could she have a UTI?

How long are you out for? You say she's walked for an hour, presumeably you mean you're out at work all day. If you are I'm afraid that's too long to leave a dog, especially such a young one, and she's probably showing signs of stress and seperation anxiety. If you are out all day I'd say reduce your hours for a bit and see how it goes.

If you're not out all day then yes it could just be anxiety if you're leaving her a lot more often than you used to, but then it could be that she's poorly. Best check with a vet. Take them a urine sample as well to check while you're there.

Agree with other posters, also really important to clean up urine thoroughly with special urine cleaner (sorry can't think of the name, it's been a long dayBlush) our puppy kept weeing by the back door & even though I carpet shampooed the area, she kept doing it till I got the proper pet shampoo, then she stopped.

Anyone know the name of this cleaner please?

You can use diluted bio wash liquid, does the same job but is cheaper.

Thanks I'll try that Smile

Who walks her, is it a dog walker?

It sounds like separation anxiety - my dogs can be left for longer without piddling, they do have each other for company and are not left every day so don't get stressed.

Do you know what time the dog walker comes?
