Non smelly dog suddenly started smelling...

We have a lab/staffie/something else cross who has never been a smelly dog. She's just coming up to 4 years old and in the July heat wave she suddenly started smelling A LOT. She always had the ability to make. Pong depending on what she's eaten but this is not a wind smell, it's her fur. She just smells really, noticeably doggy, as does any room she spends any time in.

We don't bathe her often as she generally doesn't need it - I'm going to give her a bath this evening (after her walk and bathing the baby) but does nobody have any other thoughts on what the problem could be?

are you feeding her anything different from usual? ours smell "doggy" if fed cheap dog food.

No, we feed her that Canadian dry food, possibly the most expensive dog food in the world (or at least that's what it feels like) - she does hoover up food dropped on the floor by my son though...

Have you checked her ears. Sometimes an ear infection can cause the most horrendous stench as we found out recently!

........Or anal glands if she smells fishy.

Hmmm, good points. She smelling pretty ok at the mo, having dried after her bath but if she starts smelling again, I will take her to the vets.

Thank you for your ideas.
