Puppy getting spayed next week

Any useful advice please?

She weighs 20kg and reluctant to get in the car at the best of times. Lifting her might be tricky as I have a bad back and DH at work. She will get out no problem though.

At home, she has a crate she goes in and out of no problem.

What's the best thing to do re her stitches, cone of shame maybe as she tends to lick herself so don't want her licking.

My dog weighs 10 kgs, and I got her a baby onesie (short sleeved, I think it was size 6-9 months from H&M and then with a hole for the tail) instead of the cone of shame as she was absolutely terrified of the cone. My parents' vet recommended it for their dogs too.

I don't know if you will be able to get similar for your dog as she's bigger, but my dog had no problem wearing the onesie at all. She wore them during her first heat as well, also without any issues.

She looked like this in it: i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd361/princesspig3/IMAG0133.jpg

How adorable! Don't think I could get one big enough for my pup though, she is rather big.

We havejust had our bitch spayed and we put a T-shirt on her which covered the stitches and had no problems with the wound.

A tshirt would work!

A tshirt or cone of shame. Some dogs are annoyed by stitches others leave them alone. So watch her when she is around you.

Re the car make a ramp for her to walk up if you are unable to lift her.

I have a 5kg furry/fluffy little girl who had her op on 29th July. She got used to the collar after a few days, but I took it off when going for a walk.

Her scar is fine but she still has some swelling underneath, but doesn't hurt her or seem to bother her. I kept her on a short lead until yesterday and now have her back on the extending one.

She didn't eat or drink for 48 hours, so don't worry if your's does the same.
