Brought home our 8wk old cockerpoo black n white pup today. She is so sweet natured and pretty. I've always liked strongish names for dogs but she is tiny and very sweet that feel her name needs to be softer?!!but not too fluffy and twee. I like old fashioned granny names eg: winnie, bessie but also got to remember dh has to call it across a field. My 5yr old dd was a calling her Lara today but also likes Tiggy. Oh my..... we can't seem to find THE name. Any ideas out there please? cheers

We have a Cockerpoo pup too (5 months) and if it had been a girl I wanted to call her Mabel. They're mad things so it needs to be a bit of a mad old lady name - Gertie, Doris, Ethel!

We are bringing home a female English Springer Spaniel in 3 weeks and had trouble thinking of a name.

There are loads of boy names I love but just couldn't find a female name I felt the same about. DD asked to call her Pepsi and although I originally said No, as I've not been able to find a better name myself have conceded .Unless I find a better one in the meantime, so will watch this thread with interest Grin.

I do quite like Lexi

groovejet · 07/08/2013 09:30

Willow was our choice if we hadn't ended up with a male dog.

AlexGG · 07/08/2013 14:37

what about Trixie? my friend recently named her cat that and I think it?s quite a sweet name.

although i agree with Heifer above that Lexi is a nice name too.

Thanks everyone. Found it easier to name my daughter than this pup!! If it was totally my choice I think she would be Josie or Bessy but my 5yr old daughter (and husband) have voted for Tiggy. It is sweet and when we have been out and about people have said that she suits her name....which is kind!!!! My daughter has named the pup's outbursts of wild puppy play 'tiggle time' which is cute and sums up the wildness before she sleeps again. It is a very sweet dog. Good luck with your dogs and thanks again.
