I have had my collie cross a fortnight now and am just hoping someone can reassure me I am on the right track and answer a couple of questions.
He has just about mastered Sit (we are doing clicker training and puppy classes) but every so often he won't do it and will go crazy jumping up after the treats. Is this just part of it, 2 steps forward 1 step back kind of thing?
The trainer has advised a couple of short training sessions, we have plenty of chew toys, but it still leaves long periods of time with him unoccupied. Should I do more training to keep him out of mischief? He is 10 weeks.
We are turning our backs, saying 'no' or giving him an alternative to chew on when he starts to chew us or our clothing. Does this really work? He has been super chewy today, not sure whether his teeth are really hurting or he is bored as the rain has meant less time in the garden.
If anyone has any tips on teaching a 2 year how to behave sensibly around him I would be very grateful. They are not left alone together but when the three of us are in the garden should I just always put myself between them?
Is it ok for my DP and I to both train him?
He has started to bark at me, usually when I am ignoring him for biting me so is it just ignore, ignore, ignore?
I am sure my questions are lame but I am worried I am getting everything wrong ( and I'm sure he knows I'm nervous too, he seems better behaved with DP).
