My 16 months mutt gets overexcited on walks and start jumping at my 7 year old and nipping at his legs. I shout NO and we ignore the dog but she doesn't seem to understand that she should not be doing this. HELP PLEASE. It upsets my son.

what is happening to get her so excited? is he running around or playing with her or is she just running up.to him and nipping him?

Doggiedodo · 03/08/2013 11:37

She is just running around getting excited. My son is just walking along with me.

Do you take a ball or toy to throw as my terrier does the same to me if he is off lead and hasn't got anything to play with . In our case I think its because he is used to always having a ball if he is off lead so he jumps at my pockets to see if he can find it . It is very annoying if it is wet as I come back plastered in mud .

You are probably right as we did not take the ball that time. She also jumps up to get at the ball which is VERY annoying

I always take 2 balls out that way I keep him moving and if one gets lost I don't get jumped on ,having said that he is not allowed balls at home as he is so obsessed with them so he only gets them for a limited time a day . Even if I'm doing a lead walk he carries his squeaky ball . If he has access to balls at home he just keeps barking to get people to play and its very trying .

i would make her sit before you ever throw the ball for her. if her bum is on the floor she cant be jumping up
