Getting a new puppy

We are getting a Labrador puppy on 23rd August. It's been over 14 years since we had a puppy, and since then we have had 4 kids. The puppy will be the only dog in the house, as our beloved Sally died a month ago.

Anyway my question is; What equipment do we need?
We have or are getting;
Bowls and water bowl plus mat
Collar, disc and lead
Crate and puppy pen
Bed

What else?? Toys - what would you recommend.
Piddle pads are they good?
Chew stuff.

Thanks.

Lots of chew toys to give her when she is nipping/chewing something you don't want her to chew. We got our lab pup last summer. He favourite toy then was a stuffed fabric chicken thing which she enjoyed mauling.

We never used pee pads, we just took her out often... very often. She didn't take too long to grasp the going outside thing.

Prepare a rota for getting up in the night to take her out. The sleep deprivation is hard on everyone!

Finally - good luck. They are so cute and lovely as pups but so so hard work. Our 'puppy' is almost 15 months now and is a complete joy if only her recall was better!
