Dog hair is driving me insane

I have a golden lab who is adorable in all ways but his shedding is giving me The Rage. It doesn't matter how much I groom him, or what time of the year, he is always shedding. Whenever he shakes himself I can see hairs flying off...

I'm not remotely house proud, but I am losing it... It's making me resent him.

Is there anything I can do? I've tried keeping him outside but he gets anxious and barks/whines in the window.

I have one of those furliminator things, and use it often. Still the hair covers the house. I swear, every single thing I pick up has a dog hair on it.

Have you tried changing food?

We switched from bakers to pedigree and the hair lose reduced by 75% easily. Our vet said adding more oil to their diet can help.

As well as food, daily brushing and hoovering......not that I do that. Had Labs for years and accept the hair. Yellow Lab's coat has always been sensitive to temp changes, so with the recent hot weather he's been excelling himself in general moulting and rubbbing himself all over the only rug in the house. Used to have a Lab that enjoyed being hoovered, but the present ones aren't up for it.

Chocolate lab/cocker cross here I'm slowly losing the will to live with them amount of hair in my house. It was even in the butter the other day

I have a yellow lab but she doesn't moult excessively. I do have lab coloured flooring all through the house though.

We give our dog yumega - for health reasons, but it is meant to reduce shedding.

We have a lab retriever cross. In the spring the shedding is unbearable. We have hard floors downstairs, but I still vacumn twice a day. There's nothing else to be done I'm afraid.

I have oak hardwood floors, which are very lab-coloured, but the hair gathers in drifts. I moved the couch yesterday, and there were HANDFULS under there. How is he not bald? Nature is not very energy efficient... No wonder he's always hungry. It must take loads of calories to grow all this fecking hair.

I'll start sloshing oil into his food, maybe that would help, thanks. I am willing to feed him premium food, but Aldi's Moist & Meaty is the only dog food he'll eat. He'll eat the most rancid crap out of the bin, but turns up his nose at every brand of dried food except this one

I feel your pain I have small pet hair vac once a day and I blast clothes in the dryer to get the hairs off hard work but it keeps it under control, change food sounds like a good suggestion I have found my pet hair vac amaze balls.

A good diet will help him no end and a lab will not starve himself! We have competitions, whoever finds the dog hair in their food wins the prize! Just remember, he isn't doing it to piss you off. He can't help it.

No solution here either, sorry, OP but I feel your pain as someone who took on an older black lab - when I have cream carpets.

A Goldie probably wasn't the best breed for you if you're bothered by hair!
You could Hoover him, if doesn't mind or get him clipped? (But he'll look daft)
Other than that, just lower your standards. Nobody ever died of a hairy house..

adore my retriever, he's a shed monster. however, things are much improved since my old dyson died and I have replaced it with a dyson animal with rotating brush bars .... and a dog grooming brush that fits on the hose :D
