after losing our extra special staffy 7 weeks ago we are off to see some staffy pups tomorrow ..,,

After losing our darling boy 7 weeks ago aged 12 we never thought we could have another dog but dd has offered to dogsit while we both work so off to see staffy pups aged 4 weeks tomorrow . I am so excited :)
Will never replace our boy but we have so much love to give a new dog .

awww, hope it goes well. We have a 13 year old staffie girl. I dont think id ever get any other type of dog now x

aw - have you considered a rescue staffie?
When we went to the rescue 2 years ago I was all against staffies - but then our Staffie boy chose us - hes great - he was only a year old at the time and no behaviour probs no hes settled down and a bit less hyper

Would love a rescue staffy but husband wants a pup :(
Makes me so sad that so many staffs in rescue , I do wish I could save them all . Staffs are fantastic dogs :)

Yes that is a thought , at least at 6 months they are still small . Need to nag hubby about a rescue . We did try for rescue staff before we got our darling boy and they were so discouraging , with many rules we gave up and got a pup .

Furbaby, I am so pleased for you.

There are lots of staffie puppies in rescues, as well as older dogs, so you never know, if you phone/visit a few you might strike lucky, especially as staffies are often overlooked in kennels so they are always really keen to hear from people who want one.

That said, I can understand that if you've already arranged to view a litter, you are bound to be smitten.

To be honest I'd add ask them if they're keeping one back and if not, why not? With the situation of staffies in rescues I wouldn't be paying money to someone who's just adding to that and not breeding because they want a dog to show from. There are thousands of staffies in rescues that would make brilliant pets and unless they're breeding stunning examples I don't see any point to breeding more. 9000 a year die simply because they turn up as strays, I wouldn't want to encourage anyone to add to that.

Please nag the DH into a rescue . Maybe try some Staffy forums, someone could suggest where the best rescue and chance of pups is.

I love my Staffy. We'll need pics to coo over afterwards you understand!

I want to be pleased for you, I really do, but while there are probably thousands of dumped/unwanted STBs languishing in rescue centres right now, I find it hard to believe that someone who truly loves their breed would justify buying a puppy at the moment.

They were beautiful :) and after weighing up pros and cons of pup versus rescue we have chosen pup ...
Mainly because we have a 16 year old staff who is, nt great with other dogs due to being s rescue herself
But she Is very good with pups and young dogs , so we have chosen our future darling dog , he is a blue staffy and will be called Blue .
We will have him on 9th august .
We are so very excited , it is a friend down the road that has him so we plan to visit often so he gets used to us :)
