Has anyone else swapped dogs?

After we lost our Wei nearly 3 years ago, DH and I said we would leave it at least six months before getting another dog.

The Wei was DH's dog so I was surprised I only lasted a couple of weeks before needing to fill the dog shaped hole.

I had never had a dog of my own, so went for an ultra reliable Lab (poss cross) who I was determined to do the best for. I researched classes, food, training, etc etc so that we would end up with a reliable family pet.

DH then decided he missed the challenge of a stubborn dog. So we wait, we research, we contact rescues and finally end up taking home a GSD pup.

Fast forward a year and my bombproof, once soppy Lab worships the ground DH walks on. Meanwhile the GSD who was meant to be DH's dog is my shadow.

They really do choose you, don't they. Grin

Obviously, this isn't the board to lament my kitten who adores my DS, so I will leave it there...

Not swapped as we only have one dog - my dog, bought for me as I'm the one at home all day with him, I train him, play with him and provide him with chicken. Except he loves DH more than life itself. DH had to go out this morning for 20 mins, Ddog cried the entire time he was gone!! (Think he thought DH was hiding somewhere as he goes to work everyday and Ddog watches him go from the front window but this morning he went out the back and Ddog couldn't see!)

Traitor!

DP choose whippy- I thought he was too skinny and not nearly cute enough. Whippy is now very much my dog. He follows me everywhere.

I choose lurcher girl. She had eyes for no one but Dp.

They certainly do choose. Just like children.

Brown dog was bought for DS and wanted by DH. I wasn't too keen, we are busy people and after 10 years without a dog I had got used to having a clean house.
He is definitely MY brown dog, follows me everywhere and does what I tell him to.
I'm fairly sure that this is because I am 'woman with food' however I luffs him sooooo much.
