New house and dog wont go for walks

We moved house 2 weeks ago from a place with quiet country walks to a new house on a busy road. Our super active dog who usually loves her walks, and runs and runs, is now spending all day cowering under the coffee table, and when she goes for walks she is trembling, pulling to go home all the time and it is as much as we can do to get her outside to pee and poo. Any suggestions on how to get her more happy with the new environment? She isn't getting any real exercise at the moment and I only have time to drive her to a park on weekends not at all during the week :(

Hi cornflake I have heard of this with country dogs going to the city I saw one on Caesar Milan once and all was fine when the dog start running a round the streets with him cannot remember the name of the episode but may be on his website and worth a look. I have just moved and my dogs are shy and they were very unsure as well and now loving it but I had a few weeks where they were scared of the new house and garden and I think this is normal so I just rolled with it And now they are fine, problem is moving is stressful so it's hard for them not to associate the new house with us being stressed and tough if you have a nervous one good luck

Think less about going for a walk and view it as training/acclimatising your dog. I did the same move and the country dog freaked when he first saw a busy road. What I did was short on lead walks to start with very early in the morning and late at night, when quiet. An adaptil collar and diffuser may help with calming too.

Thanks for our tips. She is so scared of traffic, I think I need to do the really early walk when it s quiet, the later one is more tricky but can be short if she is frightened. Fingers crossed she gets used to the sound of the cars. She s fine indoors and in the yard now so that is one less thing.
