My golden retriever does not seem well today. She is 13 - which is a good age. She is on no medication, looks amazing and apart from a little stiffness occasionally has been great. The last few days though she doesn't follow me around as usual, she doesn't even look up when I come into the room and just seems to have slipped a little further towards the great Hearth Rug in the sky.
I don't want to deal with this. I cry everytime I think of it. I don't think there is any point in calling the vet as she is not actually sick - it is just a feeling after living together for so long. I don't think I'm tough enough for dealing with what's ahead. Maybe she'll spring back and be good for another year or so but it is inevitable that I'll have to grow up and hold her paw at some stageSad

I do feel for you (I have a golden too). You will deal with it when the time comes, but hopefully she will spring back. Glad she's 13 and in apparent good health. Sending her big cuddles. x

The love you have your dog is so lovely to read. She is slowing down for sure but dont let the worry of losing her cloud the time you have with her now .
Easy for me to write I know . It hurts and we dread it .

As MitchellMum says you will deal with it when the time comes ...because we do . Strength will come to you and you will know instinctively when the time comes what to do for the love of your dog .

Meanwhile cuddle her and enjoy these older years of a grand old lass.
