On a bamboo cane in the garden! She doesn't get on with next doors dog who used to be able to get on top of our fence ( they've sorted this now, only a head appears!) so she was doing her usual - running up to the fence and jumping up to get the dog, barking and snarling, when she fell onto our bamboo cane support for a plant!

Luckily she is just scratched and a bit bruised. I'm hoping this will help to stop this ridiculous behaviour. I've tried everything! Treats for ignoring, sitting or going into house when it appears but it seems nothing works for long. Aargh!

I'd be tempted to move the cane (though appreciate that you need to sort out the root of the problem).

Whoknowswhocares · 19/06/2013 13:38

Seriously, move it!
Slightly different I know but I once had to tend to a horse that leapt sideways in a field (in play) and impaled itself on a wooden fence. The stake went right through her chest and all I could do was call the vet and wait for her to be pts.
Not meaning to scare you, but better safe than sorry

Scary stuff, you can get toppers for the tops of canes to prevent injury might be worth investing in some.

Yes, I was very scared. I actually thought she would see it was there and not jump but I think the red mist descended.
Cane has been moved. I think we are going to buy a shed to put in front of the fence so its inaccessible. Hope it works :(
