Liver cake

How do I make liver cake? Silly question I know, but I'm assuming I don't bake it in a Cictorian Spinge!

It's most unpleasant as I recall, something about garlic, liver and some other gubbins all whizzed in a blender and then cooked. Have done microwave and oven cooking, both smelt vile but were ultimately fantastic and incredibly coveted dog treats.
Thinking about it I also cooked a whole liver once- I was clearly much more dedicated to dog training then than I am now :o

I do -

pack of ox liver, whizzed in blender
Same weight of flour
Garlic -several cloves, chopped up
Dried herbs like rosemary, thyme. They like it smelly.
2 or 3 eggs and water mixed in to make soft dropping consistency
Mix all together, bake 40 mins in loaf tins

Cool, slice and freeze
Then you can defrost slice at a time and chop into tiny bits

Instant obedience guaranteed. Other dogs come running from all directions hoping to get a taste

1lb liver
1 large cloves garlic
3 eggs
Milk
Oil

· Liquidise all ingredients other than flour.

· Add to flour and make into cake consistency.

· Put in microwaveable cake tin for about 10 minutes on full power.

· Cut into slices and freeze. Take out when required and feed to your dog!

You can use oats instead of flour.

Liver cake is fantastic - it is a little smelly when cooking, but not that bad (but then we feed our dogs green tripe, so it's all relative).

Lots of recipes online. I just throw all ingredients into a food processor, blend, put into a cake tin and put in the oven. Lasts for ages and really cheap to do.

self raising gives a bigger volume, slightly crumbly texture. Plain gives very dense dexture. I use sr

A couple of quick questions:

Is it very smelly to make? (I imagine it is!)

How long does it keep?

I don't think I could make it myself - but DS1 has just volunteered!

It smells of liver - I don't find that too off putting, but DH cant be in the room.

Keep it in the freezer - defrost a weeks worth at a time.

It does smell, but nothing that doesn't go away with the window open for an hour.
I made some tonight, in the hope of upping the stakes for recall training with Monster pup. Tested it out in the garden and the normally very gentle, and completely non food motivated ddog2 nearly ate my hand Shock . Off to nurse a bruised finger..

It is obviously crack cocaine for dogs. I Looked like Cesar Milan in the park this morning. Dogs who have previously ignored me now absolutely LOVE me ( still got a sore finger though )
