Random things your dog loves to eat

Our dog is obsessed with ear plugs. I assume it's the wax. They regularly reappear when we're picking up his poo, which is unpleasant. He's also a big fan of snotty tissues and dirty socks. Happily his phase of eating his own poo is now past, but that was NICE for a while (not).

Make me feel better about his habits by telling me what your dog eats!

He loves chewing rubbery things and plastic.

One of my dad's dogs is addicted to water bottles. I walked in drinking from a sports cap type bottle and she literally begged me for the bottle

Pegs, socks, cardboard, horse poo, cow poo, plastic, tissues, long grass, any speck of food on the floor, I could go on and on......

Pencils, pieces of lego, goose poo eugh.
Used to always find a water/coke bottle on walks and insist on carrying it all the way home. Party trick was to take the cap off an empty squash bottle without damaging the bottle.

Chewing gum, dried cow pats/horse dung and on warm days: grass.

She loves pine cones - she chews on them, plays with them and then spits them out. There's a certain place on our normal walk where she can spend a couple of minutes finding the best cone to take with her.

Cat poo - the worst smell ever! Then he tries to "kiss" me!

Grass.

He likes to try and eat tissues, baby wipes and random bits of paper etc we find on walks, oh and he did manage to eat a bit of j-cloth when he was 9 weeks, with no adverse effects!

My wheaten girl used to love the smell of bananas but wouldn't eat them.

She would happily train for the chance to sniff a banana skin, but if you gave her some banana to eat she looked at you as if you were mad.

Lurcherboy will eat just about anything that's edible - except cucumber - but fortunately has never been interested in chewing or eating non-edible items. I am convinced this means I am overdue for a pup that eats most of the household contents - which is a scary thought, considering we are planning for a new pup come September.

snails, apparently.

You need to be careful with snails Levvy, they can cause lung and heartworm. Check with your vet to make sure you are using a wormer that deals with these and that they're up to date.

Poo, soil and dead leaves. She was a stray, so she had some funny ideas about food. She also likes cigarette butts (neither of us smoke), and she will eat them whenever she finds them whilst we are walking.

My dog likes dirty nappies and also earphones (bit like the ear plugs I guess) and also she has worked out she can step on the pedal bin and help herself to leftovers!! Dirty Dog!!!

tennis balls, his bed mostly. Although our younger dog will have a go at pretty much anything.

Dead animals, dog shit, badger shit oh any old kind of shit. Dirty nappies and she loves a bit of dirty stale baguette if found on a dog walk.

Baby toys and house flies. She's an amazing fly-hunter...no need for a swatter in the Otis house!

(She'd love it if we'd let her eat the abandoned chicken bones littered outside the local, but of course, we don't.)

Ours loves to chew on plastic bottle caps then leave the now deadly obstacle on a step ready to stab the unsuspecting.

Used tampons fished out of the bathroom bin if the stairgate is forgotten. She thought a visitor was looking a bit peckish once and presented them with one, I wanted to curl up and die.

Dogs are truly disgusting aren't they?!

They really are disgusting! There are some impressive appetites on here ...

IAmNotAMindReader I'd forgotten about tampons! Ours likes those too, I had to get a pedal bin for the bathroom because he kept trying to steal them [boak].

Tea Towels

Wooden spoons - can't set one down for a second and have given up buying them. Must have eaten about 20 since he got here. Can't believe he hasn't punctured something with a splinter.

Celery. Weird dog.

Previous dog ate chilis dropped out of kebabs a few times.

Ancient labrador loves:
Horse poo, horse hoof clippings, the kibbly bits in safe n sound horse food, duck food, go cat, licking the floor if any food has touched it in the last decade, licking kitchen cupboard doors, any tissues that may have come into contact with something else that had been in contact with food at some point, egg shells, closed carrier bags - as clearly there could be something concealed in them, empty bread bags, foil cake casings and worst of all apart from his own vomit...other dogs vomit...even if it contains soft toy parts...and of course cat poo straight from the litter tray!

Our fabbyhound will eat anything - have lost several shoes which she has chewed on. Pens, pencils, toys, socks, used sanitary product (barf), and almost any food going.

She once unknown to me nicked a feather cushion took it outside and decimated it. It was all over the grass. When I looked out of the window, I thought it had been snowing - it was midsummer!

The only things she has ever turned her nose up at are olives and celery..
