Puppy name suggestions

Hi all, so...we have decided to get a new pup, very exciting! We will have a gorgeous chubby choc lab in july! Currently have a 4year old black lab called norman, (although also answers to 'pup' and 'chunky butt'....) and cannot think of a good name for new pup.

Norman is our third lab, previous have been black lab 'bert' and choc lab 'biscuit', who then got called digestive...(my mum started it and it stuck..)

We are really stuck with the new name, we like 'old man' names or maybe something choc related, but something we wont cringe at shouting across the field!some names are lovely on little fat pups, but not so good when its a massive full grown beasty!
Any help would be much appreciated :) thanks in advance!

Bertie
Morris
Cyril
Reg

There must be loads more but my minds a blank! Congratulations though anyway :)

A new pup, how exciting! I've recently done the naming thing with the Small Terrier (who is called Flash) and it was lots of fun.

Bob is always a fine name for a dog. If you want to go down the 'old man' names (a fine idea, I reckon!) then there's also:
Sid,
Fred,
Eric,
Monty,
Alf,
to name but a few. I quite like the idea of a dog called Ginger too.

Colin?

HenriettaPye · 09/06/2013 23:41

What about Murphy? Smile

ShabbyButNotChic · 10/06/2013 00:02

Ooh i like eric! I do love colin but norman is already friends with a german shep called colin! ( and his brother gordon lol). As you can see there is an ongoing trend of old man names in my local fields! Always funny when we call them all :)
Murphy is quite cute too, murph for short. Ooh thanks guys some good names

Edgar
Arthur
George
Jim
I do like Cyril as suggested by Topbanana

MagratGarlik · 10/06/2013 00:13

I like the suggestion of Colin - it goes with Norman. Alternatively, Dave?

I love the idea of having a dog called something very ordinary like Dave or Colin.

Foosyerdoos · 10/06/2013 00:14

I want a dog called 'The Major', that would suit a lab.

Ernie
Stanley

Dickens
Oreo (goes with the biscuit theme!)
Henry

Cookie?

Molson10 · 10/06/2013 01:42

We've just had a litter of 8 black labs, 3 boys, all went to great homes and are called Bilbo, Paddy and Barney.
I also like Oreo
enjoy, will be lots of fun!

Thumbwitch · 10/06/2013 01:43

George. The son of John Cadbury, who founded Cadbury's chocolate. (John is way too boring for a dog!)
Henry Isaac Rowntree - so Henry or Isaac (I like Henry better) - or his brother Joseph Rowntree.
Terry (for Terry's of York) or Joseph again (his first name)
Mars was founded by a Frank

Just an idea. Grin

ShabbyButNotChic · 10/06/2013 07:59

Ha my dad is called dave so dont know if that would go down well (my friend also has 2 cats called dave and steve :D ) i really like the sound of 'the major'!!!! Sounds very powerful/strong. Oreo and frank appeal to me too.
My mum has suggested horatio which i do like but think its a bit of a mouthful to shout across a field.
Its so hard to choose! Lets be honest he will probably end up being called something totally unrelated to his name :) always gets a look when im shouting 'come on puppy, come on chunky!' Lol

Just an update, after a large discussion over family dinner on sunday (including a very convincing pitch for 'bumface' by my 5year old cousin......) we have decided to go for Frank! It was ultimately between stanley and frank but we have finally made the decision :) thanks for the suggestions guys! Eeek cant wait to get him now :)
