sleep, how much needed

How much sleep does our one year old jrt need?

You can see when he is tired because his eye lids go bright pink as does his nose.

What time should he go to bed?

Also, he chipped a back tooth yesterday in a discussion with a football. Emergency vet, vet, no vet?

My dog's have always just gone to bed when I go to bed, it's up to them to adapt to the routine of the house and just sleep themselves if they're tired before that. (with exceptions for overtired tiny puppies, lol)

Chipped tooth - vet, but not emergency IMO. It's probably fine, but if you know it's happened I'd get it checked.

My dog (lab not JRT) just sleeps when she is tired. She is usually crashed long before we go to bed. When we go to bed we put her out for a wee then send her back to bed. Unfortunately she gets up very very early. 5 am this morning she was whining to get out.

Windingdown · 29/05/2013 14:40

My JRT cross if 4 next week. She goes to her basket when we go to bed and gets up begrudgingly (like a lazy teenager after a party) when we get up in the morning. In addition to that if she's sleepy during the day she'll crash out in the sun/her basket/the car/wherever she fancies.

Can you phone the vet to get their advice about the broken tooth?

jay dog goes to bed at 10 roughly he has just started doing this before we were chasing him to his crate but int he last few weeks he has gotten himself into a routine of bedtime, he gets up at 7/8 most days but he sleeps on and off all day depending on what he is up too ,

Thanks, v helpful. He usually shepherds us up to bed at around 10: has a nap on our bed ( the horror) and us taken downstairs at about 11 for last pee and basket. He also sleeps a lot during the day when not rushing around like a lunatic. But we've been v late recently.
