underweight puppy

is there a special food you can give a very underweight dog, she's a staff but looks like a greyhound how skinny she is around six months old.

Our staff piles on the pounds when eating pedigree chum, has she been checked by the vet? needing wormed?

I've literally just took her off the 'owner' I'm ringing the vets for an appointment tomorrow. Just wondering what to feed her I'll get some pedigree hoping pets at homeis open tomorrow so I can get her some worming tablets she's bloated but you can see her ribs and spine

Oh bless, she's not with puppies is she? Is 6 months too young for them to be pregnant? I wouldn't give her any worming tablets until the vets has checked her over, any puppy food should fatten her up a bit as that's fattier than adult food :(

oh god I hope not, I'm off to google it, she's not 'lumpy.' I wont bother with the tablets till the vets then. I don't have a clue with puppies I rehomed a five year old staff last year so am used to adults, I just had to get her out the environment she was in

I wouldn't go with pedigree chum, I'd get better quality food if you don't know what she was on.

Pets at home sell both wainwrights and nature diet puppy food if you're after wet.

I'd also feed her 3 or 4 times a day so as to get more in her.

whatever she was on she wasn't getting enough of it, will get some puppy food from pets at home she's had a can of normal wet food since we've had her. maybe the vets will put her on a diet or something. thanks for your replies

she's okay offered her half a can of food she wasn't interested not sure if it was because it was in gravy she had jelly yesterday going to get some puppy food soon she's drank loaaads of water though.
Ringing vets tomorrow as it's closed she's been snotting today though, is that normal for dogs?

Snotting as in sneezing or just a runny nose? My staffy sneezes and snotters on everyone when shes happy not nice

just a runny nose, im so worried about her she doesn't seem like a normal puppy she sleeps alot

How is she today? Did you manage to get her to the vet?

Once she's checked out properly I'd try to give her 4 or 5 small, easily digestible meals a day as her tummy is likely to be quite small if she's so underweight. Ask the vet but unless she has specific allergies or intolerances she shouldn't need a pricey special (vet's only) food.
