12 week old puppy, horrendous weather...

...So do I take him out on his lead walk around the block? Or just wear him out with games/training? He's a little unsure of lead walking as it is, and he's only been able to walk since last Saturday, so I don't want to give him a 'bad' walk iyswim. He's currently not happy when I take him out for a toilet break. The wind is howling and it's chucking it down. Thoughts?

Oh, and as an aside, the precocious little sod has just started cocking his leg. He is 12 weeks old tomorrow

Our puppy is nearly 11 weeks and we're faced with the same dilemma. Except I'm agonising less and we'll just let him do some running around inside. Hopefully it'll clear up a little bit later on and we can take him for a little walk then.

For the moment, fortunately, he seems happy to sleep!

Yes, I think I'll leave the 'official' walk until it's a bit less, well, hurricane-like. Poor thing would take off like a kite out there at the moment. The garden is relatively sheltered. It makes no odds to me, as I have to take the big dog out and do the school run anyway. Someone may as well stay dry and warm

Ah, our big dog is a bit rain-averse and happy to stay indoors. Children come home on the bus. I get to stay dry! :-) Hence no quandary, I guess!

What puppy have you got?

He's a poodle cross. Very sweet, feisty little chap. Utterly fearless and fond of wandering around on his back legs like he's people Big dog is a cocker/springer cross, and will run through hail, wind, snow, rain, plagues of locusts and possibly even the actual apocalypse. On the plus side, I have an arse of steel.

Also a poodle cross. A cockapoo. Bit of a softie and really not liking the rain. He's on my profile.

Big one is a border collie. Despite what people say about them needing at least eight hours of exercise a day, he's happy to sit around on is arse all day. Which all adds up to an arse which is less steel and more, well, blancmange. But the new dog is set to change all that, in theory at least!

Well, we braved it. I ended up standing on a patch of grass in the deluge while the dogs ran about like loons wound up by the wind. They should crash out any minute....now :)

Good luck with that! Although I have been impressed by the pup's ability to go from whirlwind to asleep in the space of a nanosecond. He charges around the garden, bounds into the house, into the crate and boom, he's asleep!

Forecast is better for the weekend, thankfully!
