Why the heck is my bloody dog whining all the time?

She's been doing it for a few days now. Just a grumpy nobody cares about me sort of whine, every 20 seconds or so all effing day. She's lying on the doormat just outside the study now doing it. I tell to shut tf up and she skips a whine but resumes on the next one.

Actually it's more of an anxious sort of whine but nothing about her living arrangements has changed at all. Also she's tried to chew up my fitflops twice in the last 2 days, having not chewed anything for ages.

Could she be in pain? My very stoic schnauzer pulled a ligament and she did this but it was accompanied by intermittent limping so we went to the vet.

in pain? assume she's been walked and fed. . .
sounds like pain, or, if she's a terrier, because there's some food/cat/toy she can't reach but can smell?
