Poo question

My jrt cross is 9 months old now. She's 90 per cent house trained, but boy can she poo for England! She does about 5-6 poos a day.
Would you say this is normal? Our male 6yo dog only does about two a day.....

What is she fed on and are you giving her too much?

When my dog was about the same age as your puppy OP, and pooing as often, I was also concerned that she was pooing too much as I kept reading that other people's dogs only pooed once a day. My dog is now just 2yo and generally poos once sometimes twice a day.

I'm not an expert and can only speak from my own experience but she certainly poos less now she's older. Having said that it could be the food your dog is on. I certainly think that had a part to play with my dog. She's now on a better quality food (she was on the food the breeder fed her for some time after I got her, which although quite good, wasn't ideal). A food with a high cereal content is going to produce more waste.

She's on Burns dry puppy food which I thought was good quality. I feed her two handfuls twice a day and she has a dentistix and small kong but not every day. Added to that are about four/five training treats which are tiny for recall purposes on walks!
