Italian spinone - anyone any experience?

A friend has mentioned Italian Spinone puppies in our area that are looking for homes. We have been thinking of a large breed, though an old English sheepdog, as we have some experience with them. Only ever met one Italian spinone who was lovely.

Very interested in any views on them as family dogs?

I met two in town the other day.

They were very calm and patient (as were their owners) and obviously used to all the exclaiming and fussing they got.

They were so beautiful. I was quite smitten.

Friend had a gorgeous one, calm and lovely. After she died they replaced her with one who is one of the nuttiest dogs ever. jumpy,barky,destructive

Thanks! I got the feeling they were calm dogs but I suppose there are always exceptions!

We love the boisterousness of old English sheepdogs, it's just hard getting the balance right with small children around.

I read this yesterday and then today we met one . He came bounding over to our shih tzu , they had a sniff and a run together . Lovely dog .

I wanted one but DD wanted a smaller dog. DD got her way. Met one at the vets who was so quiet and calm. Owner thought it was just her dog until she went to Crufts. She said the Spinone waiting area was full of dogs lolling around.
I will have a Spinone one day!

Yes, I have had spinones before. They are big dogs but loving and loyal. They are hairy and can smell. They have a beard which will contain food, dirt and usually they come and say hello when they have just had a big drink of water.

My last spin was called Rodger. Amazing dog. Loved the bones off him.

It can be hard to get a good one. Many breeders have waiting lists. Please be sure you are using a reputable breeder.
