Using the dog pens at Legoland

Has anyone done it? And can give tips or advice?

It's not until the summer, but if the pens aren't going to work out, I'd rather know and plan a doggy day care somewhere close by to it. The advantage of legoland (even if it is just a pen with a lock!) is I like to have dog close to me.

She ought to settle and just chew/play if I take her own things, and I'd obviously keep going back to her. She's never been in a kennels before, but is used to being in her own crate (which I would take and leave open in the pen).

Anyone tried it?

I walked past them yesterday and said to my family that I felt sorry for any dog who arrives at Legoland with his family expecting a day out and then goes in the kennels. They look very dark and dingy. They are off one of the paths from the car park, no view for dogs. Also a long way from the park. The park is very hilly and spread out so not at all easy to return to during the day. The kennels are a five minute walk from the entrance but there isn't much to do there, so would probably take you 20 - 30 minutes to walk back from elsewhere in the park. Also can you book them, as I thought it was just turn up first come first served? I think you would be better finding somewhere close to home.

There isn't a chance I'd put any living thing into the dog pens. They are dark, dirty and small, and very out of the way. They have a terrible reputation for hygiene.

I understand wanting your dog near you, but she'd be infinitely happier at a doggy daycare etc.

Finding somewhere near me not an option as we are going for two days on the way to an ultra dog friendly holiday in the SW. So the dog is clearly with us. Worry about finding somewhere good close to legoland without recommendations though... And obviously wouldn't know them, or they know my dog.

Anyone who has actually used them??

Have you looked at dog day care options mr Legoland? I know the carer I use often has holiday makers dogs for the day if they are visiting place where dogs aren't welcome. It would mean he could have a fun day walking and playing or just getting lots of attention and u wouldn't have to keep checking and then feeling awful each time you left again.
We are using Holidays for dogs in the summer. They or a similar company might have someone near Windsor.

Of course I meant to say nr. Legoland . I have no idea who Mr. Legoland is!

We've used these kennels on a couple of occasions and they are great.

BTW don't be put off by the Buckinghamshire address - they are actually in Slough, so not far from Legoland.

Not used the kennels myself. There are some really good dog walking/day care services in the area though. I'm sure one would be happy to have your dog for the day. The ones that spring to mind are:

there is also one called petnurses, but I can't find their website. It might be worth trying these.

I agree the legoland kennels are a bit of a walk and it would probably muck your day up if you had to keep going back(once or twice is probably do-able). The thing I don't like about them is that they are set back a bit from the main walkway, so some dogs just spend their day barking and howling at the constant stream of people passing. You know your dog though and if he will be ok.

Actually what I should have done is book for two days and then book into the legoland hotel instead of one a way out that is dog friendly (thinking we'd have the do with us at all times). But I shall know for next year - and might know a good kennel by then myself.
