Hi l could do with some advice with walking pup

These last few weeks of being able to take pup out has all been about trying to do things by the book no pulling etc whilst also trying to socialise her so sometimes the walks are at beaches and in the country where I know she'll see horses etc.

What I need to understand is, at 16 weeks is it ever ok to let her do what she wants ie pull sniff explore jump about be a daft puppy etc can she be allowed to do that one minute, but still be expected to walk nicely the next or am I confusing her and should all walks be about walking at my side nicely.

Never mind her being confused !!

That's what I let dogs off the lead for, I think it is confusing if sometimes they're allowed to do something and sometimes they're not - when they're little and haven't actually worked out what it is you want yet anyway.

I haven't plucked up the courage to take off the lead she isn't interested in coming back to me in the garden and doesn't listen to me when out on lead so I haven't dared take her off, I was going to buy a harness and tracking line though and practise recall that way perhaps that's when should let her play and not let her play with her lead on?
