Throwing sticks warning

I just wanted to share with you what happened to my poor dog yesterday. Out for a lovely long walk when my son threw a stick for her.
Long story short we ended up in the emergency vets for an operation. 10cms of stick had got stuck in her tongue and pierced her cheek.
I will NEVER throw a stick again. Please bear this in mind because it was awful seeing her so distressed and I don't want any dog lover (or dog!) to experience this. I am taking a tennis ball next time!

Sad for dog and you, hope she is ok.

My dim foolish dog picks up her own sticks, carries them as if she is smoking a cigar and runs off if you try to remove them (although does a beautiful fetch and drop if you throw somwething for her) we have never, ever thrown a stick for her....

she is an accident waiting to happen :(

Oh poor dog and poor you. I hope you are both ok.

Our dog doesn't chew sticks just carries them like a trophy for the whole walk and runs off if you try to catch him. He's a 5 month old puppy and we are still training, he haven't got to 'drop' or 'fetch' yet but he will 'leave it' generally.

Today, his prized stick was almost the size of a telepraph pole and I don't know how he carried it for so long tbh but I take note of your warning, it did make me laugh though Smile
