Dentastix or shop brand?

Permapup loves these bit noticed supermarkets and let shops do their own version.

Anybody tell me if there's any difference except price? Thanks.

Our old vet told me that they don't do anything so I should imagine that the cheaper versions are as good . I've started mine on the Beapher teeth and breath nuggets and TBH his teeth do look lovely and its much more cost effective ,although it took a few meals for him to get the taste for them . I also clean his teeth ,but not as often as I should .

any hard chewy thing should clean their teeth tbh but DD sometimes buys then from her work (sainsbury) they are not as expensive as dentastix, try and watch out as some have mint in them made my dog poop really runny I can only put it down to the mint

None of them clean teeth, they all leave sugary deposits around the teeth encouraging bacterial and plague growth. Great marketing tool :)

My vet recommended these but I cheerfully ignored the advice having seen my 2 wolf them down in 2 seconds flat, seemingly with minimal contact with their teeth!
I would have thought that supermarket cheapies were just as good as a brand - if you have a dog that can read the instructions and understands the 'theory' behind them!

I spent at least 15 mins one night, trying to prise the big lump of congealed stick that poor DDog had spent ages trying to slurp off from his back tooth.

Its a good job he was o.k with my fingers all round his teeth.

I would think shop brand ones were just the same, but cheaper. Their main function is to clean teeth and I regularly give my mini schnauzers a peeled carrot which does the same job but is much cheaper. They love them. :)

Our labs love them. We get the pets at home version though.

Every evening as we are cooking our labs remind me it is time for desert. They nudge me until I say 'desert' and then herd me into utility room and look at the cupboard that the sticks are kept in. If I try to give them something else they sit and look from me to the cupboard and back again. They have me well trained!
