Anyone ever heard of this? It means 'Please give my dog some space its wary of other dogs' for dogs who are just grumpy, on heat, being trained etc I think its an excellent idea - I have a grumpy bull mastiff who i walk with my 5 month DS in a harness and I hope the word gets around as I find it difficult to deal with Dc and Grumpy dog if another dog comes up to us! www.yellowdog.com

It has been growing in popularity and there has been a big push recently to make dog owners aware of this.

Another way to get space is a dogs in training vest or give me space vest

space vest

This website sells bandanas especially for yellow dogs. It may be a site specifically for sighthounds but they can do bespoke items if you contact them. My dog has one of their yellow bandanas and it's excellent quality!

I have never heard of this and I hope it catches on among dog owners but also the general public too...

Horses known to kick wear red ribbons on their tails when being ridden out, to warn other riders to stay clear. I think the space vest has a much more obvious impact to the public. I think you really cannot be too subtle about the need for space for dogs!

I have never seen anyone using them near me but we stopped off in Greenwich Park the other week to walk the dog on the wayhome from visiting family and saw one. I think it is a great idea.

Also I think it's a good idea to print off a few of the flyers off the website and put them up in shop windows/notice boards etc, or hand them out to other dog walkers Wink

So glad people agree! I live at a pub so will be putting posters up - I guess it only works if people know what it means . . . i.e. raise awareness! I think i got the link wrong its [[www.yellowdoguk.co.uk))

Am also going to check out the space vest link

Thanks!

It's an excellent idea, a easy visual message to other owners. You will still have to tell people though, from experience with the ribbon in the tail of the horse, not everyone notices them or knows what they mean, particularly those new to horses. Lost count of the number of times I've had a novice ride up my horses arse when it had the most enormous obvious red ribbon in it, only to have them shout at me when its back feet came whistling past their ears.

We're doing BAT with our reactive greyhound, and he wears a yellow bandana. We try to share the website link regularly via FB and other similar sites, and are starting to see more posters for it at places like vets, feed shops etc.
