How to get the dog to ignore the cat?

we have a nine month old working cocker bitch and she is fine with our older cat because he stands his ground and totally ignores her. However, my Burmese tom will not stand up to her in the same way, so she pesters him. DH reckons he's a ' right pouff' in the old-fashioned 'nelly' sense of the word. She does not attack him, bite or chase, but she is always in his face, following him around. She won't leave him alone to eat or poo. He does have several escape routes over dog-gates etc... and we have to feed him out of her reach.
I need to train her to ignore him. Any ideas?

No solutions I'm afraid. Our GSD gets overly excited when our cat is around. To combat it, we've basically just lumped them in the same room for ages, making sure we're right there to correct GSDs behaviour. She still wants to chase, chase, chase, but when we say "sit", her training takes over. So she does calm down and sniff more gently now.
It's funny when cat turns to look at dog, as dog jumps out of her skin and runs round the kitchen.
